Hotel Blue
In establishing Hotel Blue, Nick von Werssowetz (a.k.a. lurknyc) created a blank canvas onto which he can pour out all his creativity. With this new brand, the filmmaker and editor from New York skillfully takes inspiration from impressions of New York skateboarding combined with his enthusiasm for the city, cinema and classic films. Times for Change - Check in at Hotel Blue
Thanks to the cinematic skills of Nick von Werssowetz, lurknyc has become a real institution that provides the NYC skate scene an important platform that showcases everyday life in the Big Apple without any masquerade. With Hotel Blue, Nick translates this vibe into the designs and graphics of the decks, while the clothing remains rather simple, featuring only subtle logo prints.
A strong source of inspiration for Hotel Blue is, in addition to the skateboarders themselves, the red-light milieu of New York in the 70’s and 80’s. To put it in Nick's own words:
“I feel like Hotel Blue is where you would go for a brothel, a whore house. Hotel Blue has its own kind of style for a skateboard company, it’s hard to be original these days but I think it’s kind of got its own thing… I hope.”
Not just for New Yorkers - The Hotel Blue Skate Team
Contrary to what you might expect, the Hotel Blue skate team does not only consist of skaters from the NYC skate scene. With Giovanni Vacca from Montreal, Will Blakley and Dylan Fulford from Vancouver, there are three Canadians in the lineup.
Mark Poole from Rhode Island and Adam Becerra from New York round off the team to ensure the usual high-quality output at the level of excellence we know and love from lurknyc.
