"Off The Wall" style meets decades of quality: clothing from Vans
While the brand started very humbly as a small shoe company, Vans wouldn't be the brand it is today without its clothing. In addition to logo-heavy Vans t-shirts, hoodies, tops, and shirts, Vans has incorporated quite a bit of technical know-how into their clothing assortment.
The Vans Versa hoodies and sweatshirts, for example, have a particularly robust material mix and are water-repellent to a certain degree. When it comes to skate pants, we recommend you take a closer look at the Vans Authentic pants. These chinos are also ideal for skating due to their durable material and you can buy them at skatedeluxe in different fits and colors.
Last but not least, Vans also offers you a wide range of accessories. Besides caps, beanies and hats, Vans' backpacks are especially loyal companions for everyday life. Whether apparel or accessories, the well-known logos such as the Checkerboard, the Off The Wall logo or the iconic Sidestripe are part of the fixed design palette of all Vans products.
From corner store to leader in skateboarding and more: the story of Vans
The beginnings of Vans seem pretty humble. In March 1966, Paul van Doren and his brother James, along with their business partner Serge D'Elia and Gordon Lee, a longtime friend, opened "The Van Doren Rubber Company" in Anaheim, California. What made the company special was that it manufactured its products on demand and sold them directly to customers. The first shoe, named Style #44, later became known as Authentic and is still in the product line today. On the first day, a proud 12 copies are sold.
In the early 70s, Californian skateboarders discovered the Vans deck shoes for themselves because of the look and the grip of the sole. In 1976, Style #96 joined the lineup - an evolution of the Vans Authentic with more cushioning. The shoe incorporated design ideas from iconic skaters like Tony Alva and Stacy Peralta and can go down in history as the first Vans skate shoe with the name Vans Era. At the same time, the "Off The Wall" logo is created and other famous models like the Vans Old Skool (Style #36), Slip-On (Style #98) and Sk8-Hi (Style #38) follow. The rest, as they say, is history.
Part of the present, committed to the future: Vans in lifestyle and culture
Vans is also widely known regardless of shoes, skateboarding or other sports. The Vans Warped Tour is a concert series that has been bringing together young artists and their fans and giving subcultures a stage since 1995. With the House of Vans Venues, the brand gives artists, skaters and all others a place of refuge for their creative work.
When it comes to sustainability, Vans also has a lot planned. By 2030, the brand plans to source 100% of its main materials from renewable, responsible, sustainable or recyclable sources. This includes, for example, rubber, cotton, leather or polyester, which are used in Vans shoes. It also plans to reduce CO2 by 30% by 2030, as well as other programs and targets.
